Turkish government filed a flash Anti-dumping Investigation on Polyester FDY Yarns (HS CODE: 540247) against China, India and Malaysia last Friday, 26 April. Investigation was led by main Turkish producers of FDY; namely Korteks, Polyteks-Sinterama and SASA Iplik.
Final hearings of both main importers and foreign producers of Polyester FDY will be compiled and the verdict to be reached within a 6 months-1 year time span.

Egypt agreed to export 605.5 metric tons of cotton in the week ended May 2, according to the Alexandria Cotton Exporters Association.
The country has shipped 66,021.5 tons of the fiber, valued at $194. million, since Sept. 1, the association said today in its weekly bulletin. Exports in the past week included 5.5 tons of the Giza 88 variety, and 600 tons of Giza 86.

After cancelling its licence to sell 12 varieties of Bt cotton seeds last year, the State government has allowed Maharashtra Hybrid Seeds Company (Mahyco) to sell the seeds in the coming kharif season, subject to certain conditions. In April, Bangladesh's exports rose nearly 10 percent to $2.08 billion from a year earlier, rising for a 10th month, thanks to stronger clothing sales, the Export Promotion Bureau said on Tuesday.

China National Cotton Group, one of the leading players in the country's cotton industry, has set up North China's largest cotton storage base in Weifang city, Shandong province.

China's daily crude oil imports in April rose 3.7 percent from a year earlier and rose 3.5 percent from a month earlier, customs data showed on Wednesday, as refiners took advantage of lower prices to replenish crude oil stocks.
China, the world's largest crude buyer after the United States, shipped in 23.08 million tonnes, or 5.62 million barrels per day (bpd), of crude oil last month, up from 5.42 million bpd the same month a year ago and 5.43 million bpd in March.

Punjab has achieved 16 percent of cotton sowing targets fixed for the sowing season 2013 to fulfil the domestic requirements of the commodity as well as to export it. The sowing is 16 percent higher than that during the same period of last year, said Cotton Development Commissioner in the Ministry of Textile Industry Dr Khalid Abdullah.
