Australian Wool Innovation (AWI) has released the latest figures on wool imports to China. The figures were prepared by AWI China office. China’s raw wool imports from global sources in July reached 22 mkg, down 8.3% month on month and 3.3% year on year. From January to July, raw wool imports totalled 183.9 mkg, down 6.9% year on year, and import value reached USD1.69billion, down 2.6% from last year.

Barrie has produced cashmere knitwear for Chanel for 25 years
Luxury French fashion house Chanel is to buy Scottish cashmere knitwear manufacturer Barrie in a deal announced today (16 October).
The purchase was agreed with administrators KPMG, who were called in following the collapse of parent Dawson International in August.
While terms of the deal have not been revealed, the sale will see Chanel acquire the business and assets of Barrie.

A consortium made up of Mozambican group Intelec Holdings and by Portuguese companies Crispim Abreu, Mundifios and MundoTêxtil, Friday signed a contract in Maputo to buy the Riopele Mo?ambique factory, in Maputo province.
The chairman of state stake-holding company Instituto de Gest?o das Participa??es do Estado (Igepe), Apolinário Pelembe, said at the time that the acquisition of Riopele Mo?ambique by the consortium was a “brave move,” as the factory had been closed for a long time.
