The country has a deficit of about 2430 million meters of textile, Textile and Jute Minister Shajahan Siraj informed parliament Monday.

China agreed to limit textile exports to Brazil, where the government says the products are threatening local industry. The two countries will sign an agreement tomorrow, the Brazilian Trade Ministry said.

SINGAPORE: The Singapore textile and fashion industry will get a fresh boost from new government initiatives expected over the next three years.
The projects will help the industry generate an additional S$400 million in revenue and create an additional S$105 million in value add.

Minister for Textile and Jute Shajahan Siraj yesterday called upon both local and foreign entrepreneurs to invest in the country's textile industry, particularly in woven sub-sector, to face the challenges of quota-free global market.
